Vogue 100: A Century of Style will showcase the remarkable range of photography that has been commissioned by British Vogue since it was founded in 1916, with over 280 prints from the Condé Nast archive and international collections being shown together for the first time to tell the story of one of the most influential fashion magazines in the world.

This exhibition has been organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London in collaboration with British Vogue as part of the magazine’s centenary celebrations.

In order to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the British Vogue, the editors choice was pretty much nobel, some call it “royally played” as having the Duchess of Cambridge in this epic cover.

Starting her life in the spotlight as a preppy student, her look quickly evolved as her status soared and the ‘Kate effect’ became quickly apparent; who could forget the royal blue  Issa dress  she woreto announce her engagement, that subsequently   sold out within hours, or the flurry of  Reiss dresses  that kept sparking  sales surges?

Since marrying her Prince in a  gown  custom made by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, which won nods of approval unanimously from the international fashion press, she has become an ambassador for British fashion – both high street and designer. As often as she steps outin a delicate Erdem dress or a ladylikeEmilia Wickstead coat, she’ll be spotted in a Topshop tea dress, a Hobbs tailored jacket or her signature LK Bennett nude heels.

The announcement of her pregnancy  only served to notch up the attention on the Duchess’ fashion sense. Maternity style didn’t appear to phase her though, with pastel hues and empire-line shift dresses emerging as her staples. Prince George was born on July 22 2013, prompting celebrations around the world. Her second pregnancy was announced in September 2014 and Princess Charlotte was born in May 2015.

The Duchess was unveiled as Vogue‘s centenary cover star in April 2016 – she was photographed by Josh Olins for the shoot, the first time she had consented to being shot for a magazine. The June 2016 issue will be on newsstands from May 5 2016. VOGUE
